KLIA is an airport in a forest...a forest in an airport! You'll appreciate the elegant design of the airport.

The soaring roof lines resembling a jungle canopy, soft colour palette, abstract shapes incorporating Islamic motifs and imaginative tropical landscaping. There is also a six-storey temperature-controlled arboretum containing indigenous Malaysian foliage, a stream and waterfall in the central hub of the Satellite building.

KLIA is located some 30-45 minutes by highway or express rail link from the centre of Kuala Lumpur.

  • Departures : Main Terminal

    Check In:

    If you're departing on domestic, international, regional and Singapore flights, you may proceed to the Departure Concourse on Level 5 of the main terminal.

    You can check in at one of the 6 islands of 216 airline counters for issuance of boarding passes and baggage tags. Separate stations at each end of the Concourse have been allotted for oversized luggage check-in.

    If you're arriving at KLIA by bus, you may check your baggage at the KLIA bus station.

    Main Terminal Building - Ground Floor

    Departing:

    After passing through security check areas, you can access boarding gates at the Contact Pier from the mezzanine Level 4 via appropriately marked lifts and escalators.

    International passengers may proceed to lifts and escalators on the Departure Concourse descending to the mezzanine Level 4, pass through Passport Control, Immigration and security check areas. The, you can board the comfortable Aerotrain which operates at 3-5 minute intervals for a 30-second ride to the Satellite building where boarding gates and duty free shops are located.

    Main Terminal Building - Level 5

  • Boarding: Satellite

    The high-speed Aerotrain arrives in the Satellite building. Here, you can proceed to duty-free shops, airline lounges and boarding gates. Muslim prayer rooms, an 80-room hotel ideal for layovers and longer transit waits, and a variety of food and beverage outlets are also located in the Satellite building.

How To Get to Kuala Lumpur Airport

  • By KLIA Express

    The KLIA Express is an efficient service that links the airport to KL city centre (KL Sentral Station). The first train leaves at 5:00am and the last is at 12:00 midnight from both KLIA and KL Sentral.

    Journey time between KLIA and KL Sentral is 28 minutes and tickets are 35RM per person one-way. (Journey time by taxi is 1 hour and fare is about 90RM per car one-way.)

  • By Car

    From Petaling Jaya: Take the Damansara Jaya PLUS Highway towards Subang Jaya. Turn off at signs leading to USJ, Puchong and HICOM. After that, it's a straight road to KLIA at Sepang.

    From Kuala Lumpur: Use the KL-Seremban Expressway past Putra Jaya and Bangi. Turn off at the Nilai exit and head straight until you see signs leading to KLIA.

  • By Hotel Limousine

    From KL: RM 180 - RM 210.
    From PJ: RM 100 - RM 150.

  • By Taxi

    From KL: about RM 60;
    From Petaling Jaya: about RM 80.

  • By Kuala Lumpur City Bus

    Buses depart from the Tun Razak Hockey Stadium in Jalan Duta to KLIA every 15 minutes. The terminal opens at 5am and an air-conditioned seating area is available.

    Luxury: RM25 (One-way) Semi Luxury: RM18 (One-way).

    A stage bus service is also available from Terminal 3, Subang. It stops at the KTM Subang station enroute to KLIA. Buses depart every half hour and the fare is RM6.80, one way.

    Alternatively, you can take the KTM Komuter Train Service and get off at the Nilai KTM station where buses are available to KLIA every half hour.
