Kuala Lumpur Visa Requirement
To enter Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, you must have the following documents:
You are required to show a valid national Passport or internationally recognized Travel Document valid for traveling to Kuala Lumpur. If you don't own a Passport or Travel Document which is recognized by the Malaysian Government, you can apply for a Document in lieu of Passport at any Malaysian Representative Office in your country.
If you're a holder of Travel Documents like a Certificate of Identity, Laisser Passer, Titre de Voyage or a Country's Certificate of Permanent Residence, please ensure that your return to the country which issued the document or the country of residence is guaranteed. The documents shall be valid, for more than six (6) months from the date of entry into Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
If you're from a country that requires a Visa to enter Malaysia, please apply and get your Visa in advance at a Malaysian Representative Office in your country. However, an important point to note is that Visa which has been granted to you is not absolute guarantee that you will be allowed to enter Kuala Lumpur. Visa application requirements:
Another point to note is that any person classified under Section 8 of Immigration Act 1959/63 will not be allowed to enter Malaysia even though he/she is in possession of a valid Passport or Travel Document, Visa, travel ticket and sufficient funds.
You're also required to complete the Disembarkation Card, Travel Declaration Form and Customs Declaration Form to the immigration officer upon arrival. This card and forms are obtainable at any entry point, Malaysian Representative office abroad or travel agencies.
You're required to use the Travel Declaration Form to declare the amount of currency you are carrying. Residents and non-residents are allowed to carry into and out of Malaysia, Ringgit notes not exceeding RM1,000 per person. There is no limit on the amount of foreign currency note and traveler's cheques carried into Malaysia by residents and nonresidents.
A resident is permitted to carry out of Malaysia, foreign currency notes including traveler's cheques, not exceeding RM10,000 or the equivalent thereof per person. If you're a non-resident, you're permitted to carry out of Malaysia foreign currency notes including traveler's cheques, only up to the amount you brought in.
If you're going to Kuala Lumpur for other purpose than of tourist social or business visits, you should apply for a special temporary stay pass in advance. All special passes applications must have sponsorship in Malaysia.
If you wish to work in Kuala Lumpur, you should apply for a job in advance. Your prospective employer need to apply on your behalf for a Professional or Employment Pass at the Malaysian Immigration Head Office in Kuala Lumpur.
