National Library of Malaysia
Perpustakaan Negara Malaysia
The National Library is located at Jalan Tun Razak. You can't miss it! It's the chocolate-roofed building with a very unique design.
The library's building was inspired by the shape of tengkolok, the traditional Malay headgear, and songket, a richly-designed brocade fabric. The building that was built to symbolise pride in and respect for Malaysian culture was officially opened in 1992.
Within the library's building are various levels that house different divisions and faculties. Each floor is linked by a striking staircase.
Well planned and laid out, the National Library is a vast network of rooms and facilities that is user-friendly, taking the needs of the disabled into consideration as well.
The extensive holdings include a collection of publications on Malaysia by Malaysian authors as well as ancient Malay manuscripts.
