National Museum Galleries
Visit Them All!

The National Museum galleries comprises of four main galleries, gallery A, B, C and D. In each of these galleries, you will find an array of unique and interesting displays. Gallery A holds the Culture Exhibitions, involving exhibitions on Shadow Play, Costumes and Rituals in Malaysia. Gallery B holds an exhibition on the Faces of Malaysia, a look at the difference and similarities between the many races in the country. In Gallery C, you will be introduced to Nature, it's history and it's many forms of life. The last gallery, Gallery D, is divided into three sub-categories, weapons, music and ceramic, and here you will see displays of each from the past and present times.

There are also 3 National Museum galleries that holds temporary exhibits, The Main Hall, Gallery 1 or the Royal Gallery and Gallery 2. These halls holds a variety of temporary exhibits on interesting matters.


National Museum Galleries -- Gallery A : Cultural

  • Shadow Play
    Costumes - National Museum Kuala Lumpur

    Shadow Play or Wayang Kulit is a traditional type of Malay entertainment. Here, at the museum, you can find out more about shadow play and how it is being played and who played it.

  • Costumes

    At the Costumes section, you can see the traditional costumes of Malaysia diverse culture groups such as Malay, Chinese, Indian,Iban, Kadazan and other minority ethnic groups.

  • Ritual Ceremonies

    Malaysia is a melting-pot of cultures and at this section, you can discover the difference and the similarity of the Malaysian in some of its ceremonies which includes wedding, circumcision and way of living.

Faces of Malaysia - National Museum Kuala Lumpur
The Faces of Malaysia Gallery lets you discover the difference and similarity of human characters through the faces of ethnic communities that live in Malaysia.

Important shards of life from each race are isolated and shown with the help of replicas, photos and the latest IT apparatus to illustrate the uniqueness of that race.

    You can find a full size replica of what is believed to be the largest crocodile caught and the giant kerapu fish which measures 2.017 metres long and 1.68 metres wide.
