The Planetarium Negara is a majestic building made up of a beautiful blue-domed structure, located on top of a hill at Jalan Perdana. The Planetarium Negara was officially opened on 7th February 1994 and consist of Space Theatre, Space Science Exhibit, Resource Centre, Viewing Gallery and an Observatory Park.

This Planetarium is a smart combination of advanced technology and traditional Islamic architecture. It is administered by the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment of Malaysia. The area of the Planetraium's building spans 120,000 square feet, and it is a perfect place to explore the beauty of science for you and your family!


Ancient Observatory Park

Just outside the National Planetarium's building, you can venture into the Ancient Observatory Park where you can find a replica of the famous Stonehenge and also get an insight into Chinese and Indian ancient observatory exhibits.

The National Planetarium's fascinating facilities is fun to explore and extremely worthwhile to spend an afternoon at. How about learning some interesting facts about the Universe, the galaxy, the solar system and the Earth? Among the attractions that's worth visiting is the Space Theatre, where you can watch the Space Science and Sky shows. There are also the Mystery of Maya and Legend of the Night Sky -- which are very interesting ways of learning more about the space secrets.

Just outside the Space Theatre, you can find some awesome 'space travel' exhibits.One popular space travel display is the Arianne IV space engine -- one of the original engines used to launch MEASAT 1, Malaysia’s first ever satellite into space! You can get hands-on knowledge on the Shuttle Spaceball and personally experience the zero gravity that an astronaut actually feels when in space! There is also an Observatory Park which is equipped with a 14-inch (35.5cm) telescope where you can view the whole stretch of galaxy and its planets.


How to Get to The Planetarium Negara

The National Planetarium Kuala Lumpur is connected to the National Museum by an overhead pedestrian bridge. It's place where you are bound to be amazed by what technology can put on show for you here! After exploring a space voyage at the Planetarium, you can venture to Taman Tasik Perdana (Lake Gardens), where you can find other Kuala Lumpur attractions such as the Bird Park, National Mosque, Islamic Arts Museum, Butterfly Park and Orchid Park.

The National Planetarium is open daily and the schedules are as follows:

Tuesday - Sunday: 10am to 4pm
Monday: Closed

The Space Shows screen at three convenient show times throughout the day at 11am, 2pm and 4pm.

The admission fee is:

Adults: RM3
Children : RM2

For the Space Movies, the ticket is RM6 a piece for adults and RM4 for children.
